Anahita Zare is a science outreach and community engagement specialist that currently works as the SEED Academy Program Administrator in the MIT Office of Engineering Outreach Programs. She received her Ph. D. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri working in the JiJi lab on developing biophysical spectroscopy techniques. Anahita was born and raised in Florida. She got her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, with a minor in Mathematics, from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. While pursuing her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Missouri, Anahita also was the President of the Science Communication and Public Engagement organization (SCAPE), the Vice President of the University of Missouri Chemistry Graduate Student Organization and the Chemistry Department Representative of the University of Missouri Graduate Student Organization. Outside of research, Anahita worked to develop and implement various science outreach programs throughout Columbia, Mo, such as the local Science Cafe, the Chemistry Immersion Program, and Artful Science at the annual Art in the Park event.
